What is Self-Concept?

Mom and Dad,

This view differs from self-esteem, and relates to how your child sees herself in the context

of the world. When referring to self-concept, the question “Who am I?” is important.

The foundation of self-concept occurs in infancy with the strong relationship of mother and

child. The formation of age appropriate self-concept is necessary in planting the seeds

for self-esteem development.  Therefore, positive self-esteem is built upon accurate

and age appropriate self-concept.  So everyone once in a while encourage your child to ask herself,

“Who am I?”  It may be interesting to see what she says.

Be Empowered! Take Action……

Be empowered!  Take action……

Go out to the woods and practice screaming at the top of your lungs.  Surprising, it will make you feel great, powerful and strong.

What is Low Self-Esteem?

Low self-esteem can have many unattractive faces and it can cause you to make bad decisions.  Have you ever let a friend treat you badly, or said negative things about yourself inside your head?  Have you lain around all day instead of choosing to meet up with friends or spending some time outside?

Don’t worry!  There is a silver lining! Low self-esteem can change into positive self-esteem.  It doesn’t always have to be low; you have the power to change it. Remember—You control it, it doesn’t control you!
